A growing number of people asked me where to start getting distribution in Belgium. That's why I collected these contacts. The list isn't complete in any way nor might it be entirely accurate (although we tried to find out if the addresses and URL's we found were correct). The distributors on this page aren't listed here out of the blue. I saw their names while visiting websites of alternative labels, punk labels and metal labels. This proves that they all are to a certain degree active in the more or less alternative or underground music scene. Some of these distributors are small or highly specialised in a certain genre, others might be big and commercial and not all might be interested in distributing relatively unknown bands.

Record Stores in our hometown Leuven (Louvain)
A few people asked
if there were record stores in Leuven that would sell their CD's. There are
more record stores than the four listed below, but I think these four (and especially
the first two) are the only ones worth checking out (also when you ever should
visit the city of Leuven). I don't know if they only take releases from their
usual distributors or if they'd also concider selling stuff from independent
bands or labels, but there's no harm in asking, is there?
JJ Records. Specialised in everything that
isn't too mainstream. The shop owner also organises alternative and punk concerts
sometimes and he (as well as the others working there) is a real underground

Music Mania: Same as the store in

Pumpkin Records: Specialised in the odd
and rare. I have the impression they're really into progressive stuff as well

SAX
(Address and phone number still to follow). Located in the Parijsstraat (diagonally
across the street from JJ Records). Second hand stuff (all styles) and new CD's.
The new CD's are mostly folk and world music however and I don't think that
they'd sell other new independent stuff. Interesting to know however is that
a bandmember of the Hardcore band PN is standing behind the counter (tell him
we sent ya and he won't bite you).
Het Besloten Land: this is not a CD-store,
but if you ever should visit the town it's an obligatory stop for comic book
lovers (and it's really close to JJ Records and Sax).

CLUBS (where to perform live in Belgium)
Another question we often
get from bands that send in material to be played on Dakka Dakka is: "Where
can we perform live in Belgium?". We do not keep track of all youthclubs
and other venues ourselves but we hope one of the following links might help
you. Unfortunately these sites are in Dutch, so you'll have to figure some things
out yourself if you don't know the language. On the up side, I guess you'll
be able catch the meaning of the keywords since they often resemble similar
English words.
BELGIUM INDEPENDENT

FUNTIME:
this is not a club. Funtime is a radioshow (also on Radio Scorpio), paper magazine
and concert promotor all rolled into one. They're listed here because
they're mainly active in and around Leuven, our radio station's hometown. They're

GROEZROCK:
A punk Rock / Hardcore Festival organised by this person: steven.debacker@ping.be
JH DE BLEEK:
A youth club in Tienen, a city near to Radio Scorpio's hometown Leuven. They
organise concerts.
JH SOJO: At the moment this youth club
is the only small venue left in the vicinity of Leuven where unknown
bands have a chance of performing live (all other venues were closed by the
mayor, because "they were too noisy". Some say they were closed because
they competed with the 'Brabanthallen' which is a more important, and for the

POPPUNT: A useful site for and about
the Belgian musicscene. Click on the 'poppodia'-link. The search engine allows
you to find venues by name, capacity or price (40 Belgian Francs equals
about 1 US Dollar / 1 Euro).
MUZIEK-O-DROOM (MOD): Site
of an organisation which (among others) rents rehearsal rooms at low cost. They
have an extended list of venues that are located in the Belgian Province
