(Some dreams are told in greater
detail on the Dutch page)
There are days
yours truly wakes up, still feeling amused by an interesting and/or
rather humouristic dream I had that night. The following is a list
of, even if I say so myself, funny or otherwise remarcable dreams,
proving that you don't have te be called William Burroughs or under
the influence of some illegal drug to have such interesting "thoughts".
(by the way: I don't do drugs. Not even alcohol).
Sometimes these
dreams might seem a bit scary. That's not how they were experienced
however. Crawling slimey creatures are merely concidered annoying
because of the smears they leave on a new pair of boots and giant
insects are simply and swiftly beheaded when they try to impose their
enthymological views upon me. This must be a sure sign of my megalomaniac
personality.
The italic
parts are remarks and as such speak about something that was not present
in the dream.
Have
fun,

Dream
1: the uninhabited island
I'm stranded on an "uninhabited" island. That week a
movie was to be shown on television about a Japanese and an American
soldier who got stranded together on an uninhabited island. I did
not watch the movie but had seen it already ten years before. In the
dream I too bump into Japanese soldiers. They live on the beach
around large camp fires. They are not hostile and in fact invite me
to join their project. In the jungle they have already built great
parts of a city with wood and cardboard. The façades have been
crafted in great details and there even are metal garbage cans in
the streets. On the inside however the houses are empty. But they
all have roofs and this gives me the idea to set up residence in one
of the rudimentary interiors. I tell this to the Japanese and ask
why they don't live in the houses themselves. Their answer is that
they can't afford to pay the rent. suddenly (don't ask me why) I too
find that the rent is too high.
Dream
2: in defence of an African village
I'm helping an African tribe to build a wooden wall around their village
to keep out a neighbouring tribe (not as much helping as giving instructions,
actually). When the fortress seems to be ready the hostile tribe attacks.
From the walls they are being shot at with arrows and rocks are dropped
on their heads. This does not stop them and it's becoming obvious
that they will soon break through the defences. I hurry towards a
hut and slide aside the curtain that's used to close off the entrance.
Inside is a freezer filled with ice cubes (the size used in long drinks).
A line of people is formed to pass the ice cubes on to the defending
warriors who start throwing these new projectiles. Even though the
ice cubes are not big enough to cause any damage, the attackers, confronted
with such an unknown weapon, retreat in a hurry. After the attack
is over I decide to check if there aren't any damages to the defences.
Suddenly I notice the villagers used a big curtain to close off the
entrance to the village, instead of using a gate. I sigh and suddenly
I feel depressed.
Dream 3: rabbits
Quite a fuzzy dream of which I can only recall the last bit.
I'm squeezing the life out of a rabbit. It's little head swells and
gets pinkish red. The eyes start bulging out. I let go of it and it
hops away, seemingly unharmed. Now I look around and notice I am in
a vast grassy plain. There are shallow hills, but for the rest all
there is to see is the blue sky, dotted with white clouds. Hundreds
of little rabbits hop around. Their heads are balls of grinded pink
meat (meat loaf) and they al have dark blue marbles for eyes.
Dream
4: wasps
I'm walking in a rocky desert landscape (it feels like an American
roadmovie). Purely by coincidence I arrive at a desolate farm.
There is one woman, sitting on the stairs in front of the house. She's
wairing a long old-fashioned flower dress. On her head she has a hood
with flower motif. When I speak to her she only stares at me. Her
mind seems to be blank. I head for the barn. There I am suddenly attacked
by a second woman, dresses the same way as the one in front of the
house. We struggle a while. Using a shovel I finally knock off her
head. I take a step backward and step onto the head. It collapses
and reveals a slimy mass of pus and wriggling maggots. Yellow threads
of slime stick to my boots. I feel annoyed because now I realise my
new boots are smudged permanently and I could just as well throw them
away.
I investigate the body and discover that the woman is a gigantic wasp
in disguise. It immediately seems logic to me that these creatures
would dress up as women in long dresses because they couldn't hide
their huge abdomens inside a pair of trousers.
Suddenly I am in front of my PC, writing an e-mail to the media. It
reads: "Beware of women in long dresses and Scots with kilts
that are longer than one might originally anticipate."
Dream
5: killing candy
I made a deal with a (not so beloved) former employer. He lets me
spend a week of holidays in his caravan (or trailer) in the woods.
A few more people are there with me but I don't know any of them.
When we arrive at the caravan I I find an orange "thread"
close to the door (it looks like spaghetti). I follow it and find
out it originates from a small toolshed close by. I don't go in to
investigate further and instead break the thread in two. It smells
like candy. Then I join the others as they enter the caravan.
The next morning I wake up to find that most of my fellow companions
have threads of orange candy around their necks. Some were strangled
by it. We tear the candy loose (I put a piece in my mouth. It has
an orange flavour) and find out that the ones we thought dead have
opened their eyes. Their irises have lost all colour. With the exception
of the pupils their eyeballs are completely white. Slow slimy, yellowish
drool drips from their mouths. We try to get them to react but they
only stare straight ahead.
The threads start moving again. Hundreds of new ones start crawling
inside through the door. I look through the window. The forest floor
is hidden by masses of crawling candy. The caravan is completely in
it's grip. We escape through a window and climb onto the roof. Not
everyone makes it. A few are grabbed and disappear in the wriggling
mass. The candy continues to come from the toolshed. It finally reaches
the roof. We start to fight it with our bare hands and tear it to
shreds (it turns out to be not that strong. After all, it's only candy).
The candy retreats into the shed, leaving behind on the forest floor
some motionless bodies and a child's bicycle.
Somebody says we should contact the authorities to let them know that
the place is dangerous. I suggest not to do that because my former
employee and his family will be on holydays here next week and I want
them to have the surprise of their lives. In fact I am rather pleased
with the situation.
Dream
6: Homergeddon
I dreamt this a few weeks after seeing 'Armageddon', but it could
also be the result of seeing the end titles of 'Third Rock From the
Sun', which I saw earlier that day. It's sunny and warm. Me and
my partner are in my hometown's main street. Suddenly a meteor passes
over the train station. It's about the size of a pick-up truck. At
the low speed of 100 to 200 Km/h (just like the meteor of 'Third
Rock') the meteor flies (floats) along the entire length of the
street, while it makes a low sweeping noise. At the centre of town
it flies into a building, vaporising it. This marks te beginning of
a fierce meteor shower. People seek shelter in houses and cellars.
Many houses crumble in upon them. Me and my girlfriend flee into the
cellar of a house as well. A meteor hits the house and the ceiling
starts to come down. We're in risk of being crushed by it. My girlfriend
touches a heap of sand that's lying in a corner of the cellar and
turns into a clay golem. This strikes me as a good idea. I climb back
up the stairs, head for the front of the house. Meanwhile the house
is shaking and there's dust everywhere. When I get outside I touch
the front of the house and feel myself being transformed into a living
house. Since I feel this will be too clumsy I decide only to transform
myself into the front of the house. I tear myself loose from the rest
of the house and head back in. Don't ask me HOW the front of a house
moves about. I only know it felt like slowly walking around with really
heavy limbs. At the same time I could feel the strength of stone "muscles".
While I'm walking I make a lot of noise. Each movement of my arm goes
'swoosh' because of the interaction with the air. I hear the meteor
shower is losing it's power. What happens afterwards I can't remember.
Dream
7: Horse's head (summary)
I'm crossing a
bridge in my hometown (the details of the environment are realistic).
A horse with skinned head floats by, screaming in agony, making a
loud, shrieking noise. The people I'm with don't even bother to look.
I run to a nearby shop. Its a dark teddybearshop where only one kind
of teddybear is sold. The shop owners are foreigners and they don't
understand me as I try to explain why I'd like to use their phone.
They only try to sell me a teddybear. Finally, under loud protest
of the shop owners, I take their phone off the hook and inform the
police. I leave the shop. Already the police has tracked the horse
down and shoots it.

Other sites about dreams
First I'd like
to say the following:
I don't believe in prophecies (or prophetic dreams) and I don't believe
dreams originate from so-called higher plains or are messages of higher
beings that don't have anything better to do. If you are of the same
conviction as I am I would like to apologise in advance should one
of the following links take you to one of those silly astrology sites
or to some homepage of a new-age believer with a cotton-ball-like
thought process and stars painted on his ceiling.
By the way: Don't
pay money to someone to get your dreams analyzed. Give it to me instead
(that way it won't go wasted).
