Devil to Pay : Thirty Pieces of Silver
(Benchmark - 2004)
Category : overlooked
3 stars

This Heavy Rock band from Indanapolis, USA creates music that's a real treat to anyone who isn't afraid of a retro injection. The main influence seems to be Black Sabbath, but this does not mean Devil To Pay simply carbon copies the godfathers of Doom. Their songs are well crafted, often have melodic vocals without them being cheesy or uninspired, and their rather simple guitar riffs have instant appeal through their dark medieval nature and their massiveness. If cavemen had guitars, this is the kind of music they would have made to scare off the evil spirits. It's excellent if you're into Doom Metal, classic Heavy Rock and Stoner Rock.
