Webdesign and Graphical User Interface Design

As an illustrator my career is divided into two era's, separated from each other by a 10 year gap that started when I joined LBi to become a webdesigner. When I went solo as a Free-lance Web Designer / Art Director in 2010 this gave me the flexibilty to restart nurturing my talents as an illustrator.

When I left the Sint Lukas Art School I either had the choice of entering the army for a year, or doing two years of civil service in some non-military organisation. As a conscience objector I chose the latter and I never regretted it. The cultural youth organisation Stichting Kamiel Bizaar (that now no longer exists) was peopled by a small group of semi-lunatics (one of which would later go on to become a writer and another one who would later become a well known Belgian stand-up comedian called Piv Huvluv). In this fertile environment I was allowed to produce material that would never have gotten the seal of approval anywhere else. The image here above is but one of many examples from that two year period.

An illustration to illustrate an incestuous bible story

This illustration dates back to my last year at the Sint-Lukas art school. The exercise here was to create illustrations for bible stories. I of course selected the most controversial ones, in this case a story about an incestuous relationship.
