This flash animation shows the different stages this illustration went through to get from the pencil drawing to the coloured end result.

This is the first illustration I created in this fashion, so I'm still at the beginning of my learning curve, not just regarding the used technique, but also regarding the quality of the initial pencil drawing. There's still a lot of room for improvement on all fronts, which is a good sign for the near future.

Whereras in the past (prior to the year 2000) I would have done everything entirely using brushes and pencils, the colouring phase was now done on PC. This does not make the work easier and it doesn't automatically yield a better result. But it does work faster this way. And of course the undo function is a huge improvement.
